OSI Group Receives 2016 British Safety Council “Globe of Honor Award”

The 2016 British Safety Council “Globe of Honor Award” goes to OSI Group-Food Solutions UK for their environmental risk management practices. The November 25, 2016, ceremony at London’s Drapers’ Hall, recognized 18 global firms for their contributions towards environmental management.

Recipients of the “Globe of Honor Award” must sustain a five-star rating from the British Safety Council’s environmental management audit. Council examiner’s determined OSI Group excelled in all aspects of organizational environmental management for 12 months, concluding in July 2016.

It is a prestigious award which recognizes management of environmental risks. OSI Group Environmental Manager for Europe Kelly Grimwood, accepting the award, stressed excellence through leadership and motivation. “OSI Group is honored to be amongst the finest firms in the world, who are recognized for their commitment towards environmental management.”

With operations in the United Kingdom since 1989, OSI Group produces and distributes pork and beef for the food sector. This is the third British Safety Council “Globe of Honor Award” for OSI Group. OSI Group received honors in 2013 and 2015.

Aside from receiving accolades for its environmental management practices, OSI Group announced it acquired the former Tyson Foods processing plant in Chicago, Illinois. The processing plant and warehouse become OSI Group’s second Chicago location will expand the organization’s capacity. OSI Group officials did not disclose terms of the acquisition nor indicate what products are produced and stored at the new location.

In a press release from OSI Group, Senior Executive Vice President commented, “This facility enhances our capabilities to meet the rapidly evolving needs of our customers, we are excited to have this facility as part of the broader OSI Group manufacturing network.”

OSI Group, with headquarters in Aurora, Illinois, provides value-added protein items, such as beef, pork and poultry, to food service providers around the world. Privately held, OSI Group is in 17 countries with over 50 facilities.
